Plan to Attend the First Annual Great Places Award Ceremony

Iowa Great Places is proud to announce the First Annual Great Places Award Ceremony at the State Historical Building, Des Moines. Tickets will go on sale in mid-August. The dinner is $25.00 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased through

The event is on Friday, October 16, 2009. It will recognize:

  • the new 2009 Great Places
  • the three pilot places: Clinton, Coon Rapids and Sioux City
  • the best Great Places projects in several categories
  • and the volunteers of the year for each existing Great Place

 

The Banquet dinner agenda for the evening is:

5:00-6:00 pm Cocktail party - Cash Bar

6:00-7:00 pm Dinner in the State Historical Building Atrium

7:00-8:30 pm Award Ceremony in Auditorium

Important Upcoming Great Places Dates

  • June 19th at 4:30pm, Friday, is the deadline for grant applications of existing projects for the designated 2006, 2007 and 2008 Great Places;
  • August 10th, 4;30pm, Monday, is the deadline for applying for new 2009 Great Places formal applications for all places that have coaches assigned;
  • July 24th, Friday, is the announcement of the grant awards for fiscal year 2010;
  • August 27th, Thursday, is the announcement of the finalists for the 2009 Great Places designation;
  • September 28-30th, is the Citizens Advisory Board bus tour across Iowa to visit the 2009 finalists for the designation of Great Places
