Iowa Great Places has developed a calendar that looks similar each year. The general calendar is as follows: | February | Memorandums of Understanding are signed between the previous year’s designees and Iowa’s Governor at Cultural Advocacy Day | | March & April | The Request for Proposals (RFP) is posted on the program’s website; Some combination of forums to describe the proposal submission process and Citizen Advisory Board consultations are conducted | | May through July | Coaching of prospective applicants by State employees occurs | | July | Great Places grant awards are announced (if funding is available) | | August | Completed proposals are due | | September | The Citizen Advisory Board embarks on a tour of the year’s finalists; Designees are announced | | November | New designees present their plans to State agencies and begin collaboration | | Any Month | Iowa Great Places, along with partnering organizations, holds conferences/seminars throughout the year on topics related to community development, quality of life improvement, nonprofit capacity building, and others |
