Iowa Great Places has developed a calendar that looks similar each year. The general calendar is as follows:

 

FebruaryMemorandums of Understanding are signed between the previous year’s designees and Iowa’s Governor at Cultural Advocacy Day
March & AprilThe Request for Proposals (RFP) is posted on the program’s website; Some combination of forums to describe the proposal submission process and Citizen Advisory Board consultations are conducted
May through JulyCoaching of prospective applicants by State employees occurs
JulyGreat Places grant awards are announced (if funding is available)
AugustCompleted proposals are due
SeptemberThe Citizen Advisory Board embarks on a tour of the year’s finalists; Designees are announced
NovemberNew designees present their plans to State agencies and begin collaboration
Any MonthIowa Great Places, along with partnering organizations, holds conferences/seminars throughout the year on topics related to community development, quality of life improvement, nonprofit capacity building, and others
