Mason City’s Great Places projects are part of a vision to promote the history and legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright in this community. These plans will again unite the City National Bank building and Park Inn Hotel to preserve the only hotel designed by Wright that is still in existence. An interpretative center is also to be developed to understand Mason City’s unique Prairie School of architecture buildings, landscape, and heritage through educational programming. These two features will be further supplemented with redesigned wayfinding to help visitors navigate through Mason City’s Cultural Crescent – the neighborhood is home to the Stockman House, Music Man Square, and Meredith Wilson’s boyhood home-and the largest collection of Prairie School style houses in the country.
