Iowa Downtown Assessments (IDED)

The Iowa Department of Economic Development’s Downtown Resource Center offers a Downtown Assessment Visit to assist communities with downtown development.  The Assessment Team works to develop observations and recommendations on the physical, social, economic, and political characteristics necessary to increase the value of a downtown.

Cost:  $2,500 all inclusive, for a two-day visit

Main Street Iowa Challenge Grants (IDED)

Challenge Grants, available through the Iowa Downtown Resource Center and Main Street Iowa Program, provides funding, training, and technical assistance to all Main Street communities.  In 2007, $800,000 was awarded to 14 communities for projects with a combined total investment of nearly $3 million.
