Marquette/McGregor PDF Print E-mail
The vision crafted by Marquette and McGregor will improve the quality of life in these two communities through the arts, the communities’ rich heritage, and breathtaking natural setting.  One puzzle piece of Mar-Mac’s Great Places proposal is the creation of Ina Maka (Mother Earth) Park – a reuse of an abandoned railroad roundhouse property in Marquette. This park will include an educational center that focuses wetlands and unique natural resources of this area, a series of nature trails throughout the park, and a unique observatory will commemorate the historic Marquette-Joliet expedition of 1673. It will offer a view of the wonderful setting of these two Iowa communities from atop one of the areas signature bluffs. Furthermore, community groups have developed plans to create the Andrew Clemens Art Center in McGregor to provide access to the arts and other cultural activities that will boost the arts economy and community in these two cities.
