Conservation Innovation Grants (IDNR)

The Conservation Innovation Grant program (CIG) is a voluntary program intended to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies. Under CIG, Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) funds are used to award competitive grants to non-Federal governmental or non-governmental organizations, Tribes, or individuals.  CIG enables NRCS to work with other public and private entities to accelerate technology transfer and adoption of promising technologies and approaches to address some of the Nation's most pressing natural resource concerns. The CIG requires a 50-50 match between the agency and the applicant.

REAP Conservation Education Programs (IDNR)

The Conservation Education Program (CEP) is a key provision of the Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) Act of 1989. A five-member board implements the CEP and annually they allocate approximately $350,000 in grants for conservation education in Iowa.  These grants often account for less than half the cost of the programs, with private contributions and expert services making up the difference.

REAP City Parks and Open Space (IDNR)

This Resource Enhancement and Protection Program (REAP) typically aids communities with parkland expansion projects and multi-purpose recreation developments.  These funds are not available for single or multipurpose athletic fields, baseball or softball diamonds, tennis courts, golf courses, and other organized sport facilities. Swimming pools and playground equipment are also ineligible.  These grants are 100%, so local matching funds are not required.  Maximum grant awards depend on the size of the community applying for the grant.

REAP County Conservation (IDNR)

This money is available to counties for land easements or acquisition, capital improvements, stabilization and protection of resources, repair and upgrading of facilities, environmental education, and equipment. Expenditures are not allowed for single or multipurpose athletic fields, baseball or softball diamonds, tennis courts, golf courses, and other organized sport facilities. Swimming pools and playground equipment are also ineligible.  Sixty percent of these funds are allocated to all ninety-nine counties throughout the year while the remaining forty percent is available to counties through competitive grants.  Grants are 100%, so local match money is not required.
